Treble Clef Love Spoon
The Welsh love spoon, according to Welsh folklore, were ornately carved spoons traditionally made from a single piece of wood by young men as a love token for their sweethearts, to show his affection and intentions for his loved one. Although not carved for that reason, it was carved for my mam who is musical and greatly loved.
This piece was carved out of a seasoned plank of oak from a picture seen in the Wood Carving Magazine. It took approximately 8 hours to complete over several weeks. The item was finished by brushing with french polish and wire wool.
