The Madonna
I saw a sculpture when on holiday in Corfu and was taken by the serenity of her face. I tried to copy it from memory, using Intarsia technics (joining different coloured woods to create a mosaic). The face is carved out of Sycamore, the headscarf is made from yew, and the hair is mahogany. The piece took only a week to complete and is polished with beeswax.
