Stained Glass Kingfisher

I have long enjoyed mooching around old churches, cathedrals and old houses just to enjoy the brilliance of the stained glass windows and wonder how our ancestors managed to create such works of art. I had the chance to join a short course in our area to study how to create stained glass pictures. I had a head start as I could already cut glass and had done some remedial work on church buildings whilst helping my dad in his caretaker duties.

This Kingfisher was my first attempt at the hobby and I enjoyed it immensely, apart from the occasional cut to my hand and a swear word when something didn’t snap in the right place. I would continue to do pieces, as I wanted to explore using a leaded light frame, but I need a grinder as there isn’t a group meeting in the area anymore.

I made a butterfly which was to act as a lamp, but it never got finished and I’m not sure how I would put it together. I believe I got the Kingfisher picture off google images, but it was a long time go.
