House of Kings

This is a plaque is being placed in my front garden. The garden is based on a Japanese idea of leaf colour and I have placed silhouette carvings in the raised sleeper beds around the garden. This plaque is the first full carving to replace some of the silhouette carvings in the garden. It is based on Chinese characters logogram introducing to the world that this is the House of the King’s. This carving is dedicated to my Dad, who did a similar plaque in Welsh (Ty Brenyn) after a holiday we had had in Llandudno. I had kept the plaque when my mam moved out of our family home. The carving is made out of walnut and painted black inside the characters and bamboo surround to make them stand out. It is sealed with a linseed oil mix to keep out the weather.
