Fishesssss
I have become interested in Intarsia and wanted to try it out. When you carve, you end up with lots of leftover bits of wood and I thought this would be a good way of using them up. I saw a couple of pictures on Pinterest and set about giving it a go.
The Clownfish is made out of Juniper wood and lime with a hint of walnut between. I spliced the pieces together first and then carve the shape afterwards. The Angelfish is made out of mahogany, oak and birch woods, then the fins were stuck into place after being shaped on a bobbin sander. Not bad for a first attempt. They are finished off with Danish oil to give a wet look and the coral is plastic, not real, a leftover from an aquarium I once owned, nothing goes to waste.
